I-For-Myself / I-For-The-Other*

Editorial Avenue No. 26: 15th November 2025

Preamble:

The Editorials for the months of November 2025, December 2025 and January 2026 intend to introduce to humanity a three-part metaphysical structure that will be developed respectively as follows:

Lesson 1 (November 2025): It is Humanity’s innate desire for order and coherence that misattributes external disturbances to inner fault

Lesson 2 (December 2025): To look inward first without identifying systemic imbalance keeps us enclosed into falsehood.

Lesson 3: (January 2026): The consequence is a representation of Godlessness

This metaphysical structure comes with 3 precepts:

Precept 1: To look inward blindly without contextual reality = Illusion.

Precept 2: To understand context without nurturing inner stillness = Disorientation

Precept 3: To align both is the uncovering of the truth … and a return of the Sacred

Part 1: Let me allow the error to be mine, so the world may remain coherent for you

The first lesson that is taught to any serious student of Light Work is to look within first. To seek that which already exists inwards and if need be, to peer into that darkness, to master it until only the greater good prevails and to find the one mark that is guaranteed to bring oneself back home; A home that is based in eternal truth and seated within the Heart. Know Thyself First. But to know thyself assumes that the person understands the architecture of consciousness. Where humanity moves farther from this goal is by understanding the nature of its consciousness as being cognitive. But the human mind is not a mere thinking tool. As such, despite generations after generations of human foragers seeking for their enlightenment, few members of humanity have actually stumbled upon their true selves. We are therefore pointing to an opposing concept: Knowing thyself first can be misleading if you are mislabelling the type of disturbance experienced. There can be no self-knowledge if the nature of the Being remains unknown and the Twilight Zone episode, “The Monsters are due on Maple Street” (1960) perfectly exemplifies this.

In this episode, a sudden flash of light on a cozy Saturday afternoon leads to an instant technological stop: phones, cars, electrical devices all stop working. At first, the community gathers together to attempt to build mutual sense, coherence and a continuation of meaning-making out of this situation. But when a child subtly drops the idea that aliens may be amongst them but disguised as humans, there is an immediate fracture in the sense of self. The blame is symbolically shifted inwards and full chaos ensues. People become more and more suspicious of each other, anxiety heightens and madness settles in. High above the sky, two actual aliens watch the scene serenely and remark that there is never any need to attack humanity directly. A planted seed is all that is needed to fulfil their purpose. The “aliens’ in this case teach a fundamental truth behind human consciousness: Humans look within to stabilise their external reality but without knowing or even understanding what they are meant to locate and identity, they will generate misplaced forms of truth. To know thyself first is therefore not the ultimate act of wisdom; it is an act aimed at stabilising the self.

Aristotle expresses that the Universal Law of Identity or the first law of the cosmos is a cosmic precondition for Being-ness. It as such states that before any being can exist, it must first be itself or have an identity. It is under this condition that the I AM that I AM precept comes to life and evokes God’s constraint on creation. A can only be A. It cannot be what it is not. It cannot be mistaken for its opposite. It cannot hold two natures at the same time. And therein lies the problem but also the lesson exposed today: the more we misattribute/mislabel/confuse the source of the truth, the more a Being collapses into non-being. This brings is to the following question:

Is the Self being its real self or has it imported a disturbance that it now mistakenly labels as its own creation?

Bakhtin’s insight into dialogical identity - that every “I” exists simultaneously as “I-for-myself” and “I-for-the-other” - exposes a metaphysical truth rather than a mere psychological one. It means that even before a human being speaks, their identity vibrates across two axes: the axis of divine origin and the axis of relational reflection. Under the Law of Identity, the Self must be itself in order to exist; yet under the dialogical structure of existence, the Self is always shaped by the presence and gaze of the Other. When a disturbance arises, these two conditions collide. Instead of distinguishing between what belongs to the Self and what originates from the Other, humanity collapses both into one field and attributes the totality inward. This relational mislabelling becomes not simply a cognitive mistake, but a violation of divine order, for a Self that cannot discern its own nature from externally imported disorder cannot fulfil God’s first law: to be an identifiable being.

* Title based on the original concept of dialogical identity as developed by the Russian philosopher, Mikhail Bakhtin (circa 1920s)
